High Altitude High Care

Attention to detail and cleanliness, to feel at home

1. If you're planning on staying for lunch or dinner, we ask that you book in advance: it helps us organize everything better (and avoid wasting anything). If you have any special requests, please let us know when you contact us.

2. To sleep at Granero, you need to bring your own sleeping bag. If you've forgotten yours, no problem: you can rent one from us.

3. Check-in is from 3:00 PM. Breakfast is from 7:00 to 8:00 and check-out is by 10:00 AM, so we have time to prepare the spaces for new guests.

4. The refuge offers a set menu for dinner. If you have any food intolerances, please let us know in advance: we'll try to accommodate you with a smile. Remember, every ingredient is brought in by hand or helicopter, so every dish is the result of great teamwork.

5. Water at high altitudes is a rare and precious resource. Use it with care and gratitude.

6. For everyone's safety, the use of gas stoves is not permitted inside the shelter.

7. Dogs are welcome around the shelter, but must be kept on a leash at all times. In respect for other guests (and safety regulations), they are not permitted inside the facility.

8. If you prefer to sleep under the stars, you can pitch your tent near the shelter. Just one rule: always keep the helicopter pad clear. It's important for supplies... and emergencies. We kindly ask you to pitch your tent at least 250 metres from the helicopter landing pad and the refuge.

9. During the seasonal opening period, access to the winter shelter is at the discretion of the managers. In winter, however, it is always accessible: it has six beds with blankets, but there is no heating or running water. Bring all the essentials, and a little adaptability.

Some tips to make the most of your stay

How to reach us

Location: Adrech del Laus
Municipality of Bobbio Pellice (TO)
The Granero Refuge can only be reached by foot from three valleys and from France

    • Option 1: Drive up to Villanova and then continue on foot for a morning walk, following the signs for “Rifugio Granero” using the alternative path for the first stretch, the one that leads to the Conca del Pra (Rifugio Jervis). Follow the entire Conca until you reach the last huts present; from there you can choose one of the two paths that require the same amount of time and lead to our refuge:

      • Sentiero delle pietre.

      • Sentiero dei larici.

    • Option 2: It is possible to purchase a ticket for the ascent (at the Villanova restaurant) which allows you to continue and arrive by car to the car park in the valley, following the specific ascent and descent times which can be consulted on the website of the municipality of Bobbio Pellice.

    • Option 3: Drive up to the Barbara refuge (1753m) and then continue on foot for a 2-3 hour walk passing through Colle Manzo (2694m).

  • Starting from Pian Del Re, in about 4 hours you can reach the refuge passing through Buco di Viso and Colle Sellierino or Colle Armoine – Colle Manzol.

  • Starting from Castello (part of Pontechianale), reach the Vallanta refuge, climb the Vallanta hill, the subsequent Seilliere hill and finally descend to the Granero refuge.

  • From the Queyras valley, starting from l'Echalp in about 4-4.30 hours you can reach us passing through the Vittona/Nalbert pass or the Seilliere pass.
