Where do we pass?
Some advice from those who live this mountain every day

Those who arrive at the Granero Refuge have chosen to set out on foot.
You do not get here by car, but with your legs, your breath, with and the desire to look around.
We lived this mountain for many years, so we feel like giving you some advice on how to best approach your hike.
The essentials in the backpack
(and in the heart)
To enjoy the experience without any worries, here is what should not be missing:
-
Well broken-in hiking boots (if they are new, you risk regretting them after the first hour!)
-
Backpack that is comfortable and not too heavy: you feel every kilo here
-
Personal sleeping bag (mandatory for overnight stays)
-
Layered clothing: the mountains change mood quickly
-
Waterproof and windproof jacket
-
Hat, sunglasses and sun cream: the sun beats stronger up here
-
Powerbank or spare battery for your phone (the hut has electricity, but not on the trail)
-
Water bottle or water bag (at least 1.5 litres)
-
Hiking poles, if you are comfortable using them
The best times?
We are open from mid-June to mid-September (it always depends a bit on who's in charge... i.e. the snow, and the availability of water!).
-
June : still few people on the trails, nature exploding.
-
July and August : more stable weather, more company along the way.
-
September : the air becomes fresh, the colors change, the mountains get emptier and allow to live in silence.
There are places you don't reach by chance...
